AN EXPLORATION AND EXPERIENCE OF THE SUBTLE TOOLS OF YOGA
- an intensive retreat with KAUSTHUB DESIKACHAR
Throughout the world, numerous practitioners of yoga are venturing into the non-asana dimensions of yoga for answers to many of life’s most profound questions.
Traditionally, Yoga was never focused merely on working with the physical body, but was more intended to help realize the mind’s vast potential. Though yoga realizes the many potentials of the mind, and offers ways to enhance these, it was especially keen that its practitioners progressed in the area of personal transformation and spiritual growth.
To aid this process, Yoga offers many tools and practices that are rich and profound, that allow an inquiry into, as well as a transformative process from lifestyle patterns that cause repeated suffering. The teachings of Yoga are clear, that such lifestyle patterns are not only a source of suffering, but also are “self-limiting”, with regard to our greater potential.
Though Asanas are the more popular tools of yoga in today’s context, it is important to understand that Yoga’s teaching emphasizes deeper meditative practices that address these issues. This retreat offers a unique opportunity to experience these profound teachings of traditional yogic meditation.
Based on the timeless insights of the Vedas and The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, this retreat will be an in-depth exploration of the nature of mind and our own essential Being. Students will be led step-by-step through the sme spiritual practices for knowing, refining, and directing the mind as used over thousands of years by the great sages of India.
This retreat exploring the deeper levels of yoga is especially designed for those interested in the process of exploring the meditative aspects of yoga. It will include lectures, practice sessions, and question-and-answer sessions. KHYF members attending this seminar will be able to count this towards their Continuing Education credit.
