Introduction
The Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation (KHYF) strives to provide students and teachers of Yoga with the highest quality Yoga education and training. Designed to present yoga in its holistic form and equip students to use the vast range of yoga’s tools to serve the needs of those seeking yoga, the KHYF has conceived and planned the Yoga Teacher, Yoga Teacher Trainer, Yoga Therapist, and Yoga Therapist Trainer levels of certification. The syllabus of the training program is set, reviewed and updated regularly by the KHYF, under the guidance of TKV Desikachar. All courses will be conducted by KHYF-certified teachers, who have been training Yoga Teachers/ Trainers/ Therapists for several years and have extensive experience both as educators and as therapists in the field of Yoga.

Mentoring: the heart of the KHYF program

In the traditional style of teaching Yoga, each student was taught on a one-to-one basis by their teacher. This allowed the teacher to understand the needs and abilities of the student and guide them accordingly. This aspect is reflected in the KHYF training program where each student will have a mentor, who will

- provide the student with direction and support throughout their course of study
- help in the development of a personal practice for the student
- continuously review and help in the evolution of that practice

One-to-one regular meetings between the student and mentor are crucial as the student-mentor relationship is important to the experience of the training and plays a large role in the student’s evaluation process.

KHYF training programs

Currently the KHYF and the KYM are the only two organizations that can offer all levels of courses. However, KHYF certified trainers will offer training programs that will help students become Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists.

It is recommended that every new student begins their Yoga training at the 'Yoga Teacher' level with a KHYF-certified Yoga Teacher trainer/ Therapist as this provides them with a fundamental essence of the Krishnamacharya tradition of yoga. Students can begin Training under a KHYF certified teacher trainer. Details regarding the KHYF Yoga Teacher course may be acquired by contacting a teacher nearest to you (click here).

Students participating in any KHYF Training program can

- access the wide range of study material, articles and features that will form part of the KHYF website.
- create and participate in discussion forums through the website and can interact and learn from other KHYF students and teachers from around the world.

- attend courses offered by KHYF, some being exclusive to KHYF members.
- download relevant documents.

Successful completion of their program entitles the student to certain privileges such as:

- the student's name and biography gets included in the KHYF teacher database, which can be viewed by the public on the KHYF website.

- Participants can update their profile on their own, as and when required.
- the KHYF 'certification level' logo will be available for approved promotional purposes.

For all levels, certification will be valid for 5 years. Renewal of certification, which will be subject to a review, must be completed at least 6 months prior to the expiry date.

Continuous Education Units

Commitment to continuing education is another important factor in the KHYF philosophy, thus ensuring high standards of teaching. All KHYF members are encouraged to participate in Continuing Education Units (CEU) so as to broaden their range of Yoga skills and/or support their teaching practice, such as "first aid, communication skills, etc. The KHYF/ Affiliate Centers/ certified Trainers will offer seminars/workshops/private tutoring hours from time to time to help graduates accumulate credit hours towards Continuing Education Units. The 'CEU guidelines' document is available for downloading for KHYF members, from the KHYF website.
